Three processes, one workshop
Which one a job needs is decided by the job, not by what happens to be switched on. Most pieces use more than one.
3D printing
Built up in layers from a digital model. It makes shapes that cannot be cut from a sheet, and it makes one of something without needing a mould.
Laser cutting
A clean cut straight through sheet material, accurate and repeatable. Used for flat parts, panels, and lettering that has to sit flush.
Laser engraving
Marking into the surface rather than printing on top of it, so the detail does not wear off with handling. Names, logos and fine detail.
